That long stretched-out way of singing is distinctive. Another great example of it is in 'how do you feel?' from the Station album. Have you listened to it? I don't know how many times I have.
Yes, lots of good songs on Station, although my preferred song from that album is kaze ni azukete. can't get enough :D
Yes, Kaze ni Azukete and Memai should be declared Japanese musical national treasures, in my opinion.
