HALCALI are great, I saw them live on the countdown japan 07/08 festival.
On dec last year I happened to be on Tokyo at that time and got lucky enough to get (expensive) tickets for the last 2 days of the festival (I missed Perfume's performance for 1 day but got to see capsule :D).
They where on the "small" stage, but the place was packed and the crowd really got exited with the performance, they deserved a bigger stage.
I discovered them via the song giri giri surf rider, which they performed at the end of the performance and the audience exploded with that final song. which has a great PV btw, girl gang fight w/ final battle ala "beat it"

Many thanks for the heads' up, san! I think I just became an even bigger fan!

Oh, I'm jealous that you got to see Halcali! I've been a fan since about when they started, but have yet to see them. Only recently they seem to be playing at more "accessible" shows like this one.

I went to Unit one time during my visit in Japan... seen Karen and Arrows there. And it was not that bad at all (better than Club Citta and Liqid Room at least). But I agree with Que, been there like four times just because it was so nice the first time and because the artists playing there are never really bad. Havent been to Loft but since i supose it was not my last visit i can sure go there next time.
I'd really like to see Nirgilis one time...
as with Halcali I can share your toughts. They played in europe too, 2007 in Paris at the biggest Japan/Anime Convention all over europe (and even came back for OneMan-shows later) I've seen them there and ppl really enjoyed it, so dit they... they were really happy at the concert an one could really feel that. I've seen many shows from japanese artists all over europe and sometimes it is hard for the artists or the audience (or both) to get connected - we are strangers to them after all, like if there is a barrier, not every band can overcome that. But with Halcali... they really got the ppl excited even tough most of them never have heard of them before.

Patrick,
They were great! I went into it just mildly interested, but by the end, I was converted...That doesn't happen often. You really should seem them now that they're more accessible.
whitegrey,
Thanks for your comment. It's great to hear that Halcali got such a positive reception in Paris. That's doubly amazing because they do hip hop, in Japanese, and you'd think people would be less into them if they don't understand Japanese, but maybe their energy and enthusiasm clicked with the foreign audience too.
