Lovely, lovely post, Welcome to LM and welcome back to LG. I can't believe they tossed your old ID in the bin. Did they not even give you the option of keeping it? Hoo-ha is the worst. Best avoided at all costs....

Just a tip - make sure you keep the s'fach which has your old "G" name and your new "M" name on it with you - you will often be called upon to prove that despite changing your last name you are still the same person.
Be glad you at least have a choice - not too long ago (a year or 2) changing your last name was done automatically, courtesy of the Rabbanbut, and if you wanted to keep your maiden name you had to fill out all these papers to change it back!!

LM (formerly G), wait till you travel out the country and decide to go on your foreign passport, still in your maiden name I assume, but the ticket is in your married name because you leave Israel on an Israeli passport.
