Gravatar The timing is simply perfect! Enjoy your new sweater - it looks absolutely gorgeous, and the size you chose works very well! (coming from a girl who's probably very similarly-shaped to you ).

Gravatar It looks great! And what a fabulous title. It should be a blog name.

Gravatar Your Mariah looks great! I love the color and your glasses. Congrats on a great knit!

Gravatar It looks great ... it looks great! I understand very well your fear of the potential of something wrong in a project ... I have one waiting for me.

Gravatar Your Mariah looks fantastic!!!! Yours is the first one I've seen that makes me want to knit it too! I love the sleeves. Great job!

Gravatar Mariah looks fantastic and it fits you so well! I didn't remember that it had a hood. (Now I wonder what pattern I thought was Mariah.)

Isn't cabling without a cable needle the best thing ever? I can't believe I waited so long to learn the technique.

Gravatar Fabulous job on Mariah! It looks great. I've found that it has become one of my favorite sweaters. I hope you enjoy yours as much!

Gravatar it's fabulous! the fit looks wonderful. since you put it away for so long it's kinda like instant sweater! i have similar sizing/fit issues as you do. i think what's nice about the fit of your mariah is that you still look shapely but it doesn't accentuate the big bust (something i'm always very conscious of myself).

thanks for sharing the pattern notes. i love the attached i-cord and it was nice to get a reminder of that.

re: pilling. i read recently that a sweater shaver can do more harm than good (actually encouraging the pilling to continue). a spinner suggested using a scissor to cut off the pills instead. i haven't tried it yet but i thought i'd share.

also, regarding the neck. you could do what you said to make the neck smaller -- just knitting more rows in the raglan area. another technique that's pretty common for raglans though is to bind off stitches at the armhole. the body would get some stitches bound off and so would the sleeve. it gives the body some depth (really good when you're busty) and it lets the yoke get smaller faster. the benefit to this method is that the armholes don't get overly deep (which would lead to a less-fitted look).

having said all this, i think your mariah looks wonderful and i'm sure you'll be wearing this for years to come! enjoy it

Gravatar so awesome!! My husband has the same photographic tendencies...

Gravatar Hey, it looks beautiful! Just curious. . . did you use the old directions (which are posted on Knitty) or the new ones (which are posted to the Yahoo group) for the yoke and the hood? I just want to get a sense of whether the rewritten instructions are actually working better for people (it includes a bind-off similar to what Jody P. described above). Whichever you used, it looks great on you, and I'm glad you're happy with the finished result. Can I add you to my gallery?

Gravatar Yea Karma! It is perfect timing and it is a perfect fit for you too--so flattering. Grear job, girl!
(my DH does the same thing with the camera--it usually is focused on my friends in front however... crazy boys)

Gravatar Enjoy the sweater! I agree with you on the neckline, but this one certainly doesn't detract from the overall look.

Great job!

Gravatar It looks great and is so flattering on you!

Gravatar Fabulous! I've always had a thing for this sweater and you aren't helping things. It looks great and as another one with a similar body (those boobs do get in the way, don't they!) I'm happy to see you happy with the fit.

Yay for instant sweaters!

Gravatar yeah! looking good! love the colour and the fit. congrats!

Gravatar That sweater is adorable! It looks great on you, and seems like the kind of sweater that I would reach for again and again. Congrats on finishing!

Gravatar yay for mariah! it looks so fab on you. i used elan's wool for mine as well and it does pill, but i found most of the pilling was on the inside of the arms and body (where the two rub together) and wasn't so bad. my mariah is at the tailor right now getting the zipper put in, i'm so impressed that you could do it yourself!

Gravatar You look great in that sweater. Nice work!

Gravatar Your Mariah looks fabulous and warm! Isn't it fun to just pick up a UFO and be done so fast? Nice choice on the attached i-cord too

Gravatar Rockstar! It looks fan-freakin-tastic!

Gravatar Your Mariah looks fabulous! I love the I-cord edge, I wish I had done that, I turned mine under. But yours is a cleaner, less bulky finish. The color is great too. Nice job.

Gravatar Wow! Looks great! Mariah remains on my want to knit list (which is longer than I am tall now). Love the glasses too.

Gravatar It looks awesome on you! great job! I might need to make one now

Gravatar It looks great. One of the nicest I have seen. It fits wonderful and is very flattering! Congratulations on a great knit!

Gravatar Oh Karma! This sweater is beautiful. It's a great sweater for the weird weather we've been having..low 50's in the mornings and high 60's in the afternoon.

Gravatar It looks great! The Wise Book O Finishing is becoming my favorite. Mariah looks wonderful and warm. I visited my brother in law in Seattle last year at this time and (being from Florida) certainly would have loved a Mariah. I should plan ahead for my next visit. Break out the wool!

Gravatar GREAT job!!! Love it! If I wasn't already set on the Rogue, I would do the Mariah.

But it might make a nice gift someday...hmmm...like I need another WIP!

And thanks for putting all of your hints on, very helpful.

Gravatar Wow..Karma..that really did turn out super cute! And kudos to doing the zipper..

As far as the Elann pilling, I wouldn't worry about it that much, I was perusing Elizabeth Zimmerman's Opinionated Knitter last night and she said a little blurb about pilling, basically it happens, it's not a big deal, just get over it. It pills, de-pill it and it 99.9% of the time it won't pill again.

Anyway..you did such a fantastic job! Way to go!!!

Gravatar Mariah looks awesome I knit a Ribby Cardi in the Peruvian Highland wool, and it pills a lot. But the stuff is so reasonable, and it drapes really nicely after blocking, so I guess it's a fair trade-off.

By the way, it looks really cold in Seattle.

Gravatar the sweater is just fabulous! and congrats on finishing it in time for the season.

i love the color and the beautiful cable details!!

Gravatar Woo Hoo! Mariah is lovely... Enjoy wearing it! =)

Gravatar Wow, looks great!

Gravatar Good for you! I need inspiration! I must finish what I start. I love your sweater! Great job.

Gravatar Nice work! Love the muscle-pose

Gravatar So pretty!

Gravatar You did a fabulous job! I love the cables and it looks great on you. Congratulations on finishing!

Gravatar It looks great! The cables are fab, and the fit flawless, ahhh I really need to start a larger project...sweaters are scary..

Gravatar Your Mariah looks fabulous! Congrats on knitting yourself a sweater that you like and will wear. Its funny how it can take a while to produce sweaters that we like. There's a big difference between what looks good on the model and what we will wear in everyday life!

Gravatar Beautiful job! I really want to make that next (along with umpteen other projects!) !

Gravatar gorgeous, gorgeous!

Gravatar Absolutely fabulous. I hope it feels as good and comfy as it looks!!

Looking at yours make me really itch to do my own!

--Carrie

Gravatar Yay! It looks fantastic!

Gravatar fabulous! just right for seattle weather!

Gravatar Looks great! You did a terrific job.

Gravatar Gorgeous, Karma! And in my fave shade of PHW. Just in time for the cool weather.

Gravatar Wow! It looks great Karma! You should be really proud of yourself, you've done a great job.
Now I wanna frog mine and re-knit it so it fits better.....

Gravatar NICE! - I'm definitely making this sweater now that I've seen yours; it looks terrific! I'm usually not a cardi wearer but this looks great.

Gravatar GORGEOUS. Wow! I never really liked this pattern, but your FO is making me really want to make this. I LOVE the fit and color. Perfection! Congrats!

Gravatar Whoops! That anonymous comment above was me...

Gravatar Gorgeous! I'd been on the fence for a while about Mariah, then kind of forgot about her. Seeing yours, I really want to make one now... Great job! The fit is perfect.

Gravatar Great job and it looks terrific on you!

Gravatar it looks fantastic!! the fit is perfect and you are going to get so much wear out of it!!

as a side note - i've been wanting to update my glasses and now i am looking at yours going....i want THOSE ones!

Gravatar Gorgeous! I love the cabling work on this sweater. I'm with you, if I ever did it I'd make the collar higher, but it does look really cute on you as is.

Gravatar Love the cardi but I must admit I am pea green with envy over those faboo glasses!

Gravatar Wow, I wasn't that much of a Mariah fan but yours has changed my thoughts on it. It looks fabulous and fits you so well. That is truly a great job. Congrats.

Gravatar Congrats!! Your Mariah is fabulous, great job on it!!

Gravatar Looks fantastic! I love it...I keep eyeing this pattern, I may have to attempt it in the new year!

Gravatar I love it. Its so cute! You did a great job, now enjoy wearing it.

Gravatar Karma, that is just incredible! What a perfect sweater, perfect fit! And, you did it without cable needles? I need to learn that!

Gravatar Mariah is hot, hot, hot! Excellent work. And funny about husband photographers, isn't it? Mine has sometimes chosen camera angles that make me look absurdly well endowed...

Gravatar Always the last to comment. Mariah looks awesome! I have somewhere a link to someone's blog who did the neckline a bit differently. If you want it, let me know and I'll email it to you.

My Mariah accidentally got into the wash and felted slightly, but it's a lot less fuzzy now. NOT that I'm suggesting this as a solution.

Gravatar What a fabulous job! I love this sweater!!!

Gravatar What a beautiful sweater! It fits you so well, and you did an excellent job on it. It feels so good to move those stalled projects off the needles, doesn't it?

Gravatar Congratulation! Mariah looks fabulous on you. The fit is perfect! Just in time for cool weather. Yeah!!

Gravatar Your Mariah looks wonderful! It makes me want to knit one. Well done!

Gravatar LOOOOVE it!
