Left leaning decreases usually are wonky -- it's just in their nature. I've found that mine look *slightly* better if I slip the first stitch knitwise, then the second *purlwise*, and then finish up as usual. Nona's got a list of other alternatives here:

Your Mirabella is looking so pretty, and I'm having serious Malabrigo envy!

I'm jealous of all of your lovely Blue Sky Alpacas yarn! I'm sure the vest will look fabulous - I did mine in cotton and it worked fine (but then again I do pretty much everything in cotton). And I was just looking at going to Bainbridge Island on my vacation in a few weeks - I'll definitely have to now!

Whoa, I didn't know that you're such a non-monogamous knitter! You're right there, there are times where a project just requires too much thought or it just seems like it's not going how you want it to. In any case, I'm really excited to see how all of these projects turn out!

I, too, recommend the s k-wise, s p-wise, k version of ssk. I just learned it at Knitting Camp, and it does look loads better. It twists the second stitch so it wants to duck back and hide behind the first one. Especially at a large gauge where you really notice the usual ssk stair-step, it's worth a try.
You've got some beautiful projects going, Karma! And I love your new colors of Malabrigo. Yum.

Thanks for the update - you've got a lot of projects going!! I am totally excited to see your tangled yoke
I think the suggestions for the modified SSK sound good - I've never tried it. What about k2tog tbl? Won't that lean left?

Are you concerned about the Blue Sky cotton stretching? I wondered about that. It's looking good, though, Karma. I'm right with you on ravelry and blog reading. I need to get on the stick!
