Great post. I'd say being conservative makes me happy because I don't feel residual guilt (that's right, I don't think I should be making retribution payments to make up for the fact that someone's ancestors enslaved someone else's ancestors). And I enjoy being right, which I would imagine is hard to do as a liberal.
