GOP and College Comments

The lefties will always point to the "militaristic" nature of conservative leaders like Reagan and Bush as evidence that right-wingers are all fascist, but I gotta say, I'm a little sick of the never-ending "Bush is Hitler because they both invaded countries" argument. Apparently, lacking a basic knowledge of history, any comparison that makes Bush look bad is a good one. They miss the point that fascist military ventures are done to advance the power and prestige of the country, whereas whether or not you totally agree with the war, it's hard to argue that invading Afghanistan and Irag are comparable to invading Poland and Belgium. Another quick thought: which party is more likely to espouse the idea that it is morally permissible to abort children because they have birth defects or will be born into poverty? It's a slippery slope from there to eugenics, which as I recall, was a major theme in Nazi Germany.

Gravatar That's very true. The movie Gattaca comes to mind when I think of that.

Gravatar What most people seem to miss about fascism and any left leaning totalitarian form of government is that it always has some crisis that needs militant action. Fidel Castro in beret and uniform. Hitler, Mussolini, Che, Stalin, etc. They all were in continual war of some type, and usually were seen in uniform.

Gravatar What scares me is that we seem to have an economic crisis that might lead to the government swooping in to take control of everything "For the good of the country and economy," when all we are really doing is devaluing the dollar by creating more and more foreign debt.

Gravatar Thank you. This is exactly what I think of our new "dictatorship" government. I am really scared of my future, but mostly my kids futures.
