Brings up a very interesting point about the use of the term "liberal". Political theorists like Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau were all considered "liberal" thinkers, because they started from the premise that men are naturally free. This still led to wildly different conclusions in philosophy and the role of government. To use the classical definition of liberal to label modern liberals is really just idiotic.
