Strangling North Dakota with no mercy

Sheriff john brown always hated me,
For what, I dont know:
Every time I plant a seed,
He said kill it before it grow -
He said kill them before they grow.

You are the only person I know from North Dakota. I 'm glad I found your site as you always report on things that I hadn't thought about. I think a lot of the bad things we hear about Chavez is U.S. propaganda. Even if some of them are true, he doesn't have the same evil actions as our own Prez.

Thanks Mary.
I have seen that site before Fredrick. I visit it every once in a while. The opposition is alive in Ven. They tend to be the ones who are UNdemocratic. Rosales signed the Carmona Decree, which dissolved the ELECTED government in favor of the ones that took power by a coup. yet the MSM portrays CHavez as undemocratic? I can't figure it out
Aleksander Boyd is a right wing nut who calls the BBC the "Bolivarian Broadcasting Corporation." ummm, ok?

Chavez stands in the way of multinationals exploiting Venezuela's resources and labor to benefit stockholders, and therefore will never get a fair shake from the corporate media.

True Lew. I think they really got nervouse when, (how dare he), he took back his oil. What a thoughtless, uncapitlistic thing to do. Doesn't he understand he doesn't get to control wealth?
They would probably make him wear a t-shirt that says "Doesn't play well with others"

Graeme, I want to apologize. I got the feeling that perhaps you felt that I was baiting you over on Blognonymous. Nothing could be further from my mind.
I was trying to raise an honest issue about Chavez, namely: I don't understand why a man in as secure a position as his (and I believe it is quite secure) would resort to baiting his opposition with threats. He's in a position that, for example, Salvadore Allende could never have imagined. He can be magnanimous to his opposition.

graeme, you are the true voice of the poor, oppressed, the unions and one of the few who pays attention to the issues in Central or South America. Thanks for keeping me updated.

I'm not sure what to believe about him. I know the right and Fox news bash the hell out of him so that makes me think he isn't half as bad as we are being told to believe that he is. Whatever he's doing, it's working for him.
When people are poor and feel they're at the end of their road they will support anyone who they believe is looking out for them and helping them. Who could blame them?

Like the rest of Latin American, Venezuela has a history of corruption and undemocratic rule.
Speaking of corruption and undemocratic rule. How about that Pinochet?
Most of the corruption in Latin America comes from the same place most of the corruption as "El Norte". From the ruling class.
My wife, who grew up in Peru, has nothing good to say about Chavez. We go around and around about what kind of organization it takes to survive neoliberalism. I tell her you can't just jump from capitalism directly to socialism. It's impossible. It is an incremental process and people have to make up their minds every election - if you are allowed to have an election amidst right-wing snipers and CIA black ops.
Chavez is the man. Who cares what anyone north of the equator would like to see. They can do whatever they want as long as it's what _they_ want. It shouldn't be any of our business.

It looks like Chavez has won, and so far no complaints from the MSM. Give them time I guess.

that is one thing our involvement in the middle east has done -- left latin america and south american for that matter -- alone
we're not even supporting our corporate interests there...thinking our future is in china's multitudes of cheap labor...
