Graeme,
Wonderful post!
I was stunned by the song.
Redeye (Marvin) left me a facebook alert to your post and I am ever so thankful.
You pierced the center, my friend. You swam inside war and used humanity as rudder.
Beautiful... Thank you.

Parents who deliberately raise their children to be warriors are criminals in my mind as well. I have been thinking of the soldier/cop mentality in connection with the police at the G20 or in Honduras, beating and gassing their fellow citizens. Working class guys turned into automatons. Or the driver of the Ford Falcon in Argentina in 1979.Contrasted with the soldiers who turned on the coup in Venezuela and reinstated Chavez. When do they stop following orders?
Interesting post.

Very good post. You have touched upon all the moral and political complexities of this terrible tragedy. This is refreshingly different from the glib way the war is usually discussed.

That song is just creepy, gives me chills all over, but then that's the point. Well written piece on your part. Couldn't have been said better.
