It really saddens me to think that anyone who has offended, in whatever way, is literally 'set-up' by the system to re-offend.
Far too often, observers (like the Daily Hate Mail) casually utter 'See. Told you they'd be back to their old tricks' without any though as to WHY someone would reoffend. I accept that for some, it's habit - but for the most, I imagine (and accept) that society (and that includes you and me) completely fail in providing a path to recovery and rehabilitation.
It sickens me that this country (and many others) consider that reoffending is down solely to the actions of the offender. Perhaps it's time society started having a good hard look at the part they play in that persons life.
Or should I say the part they DIDN'T play.
