Actually Sinn Fein have managed to wreck Orange parades in the South too. Then again they allegedly also complained that some of the green southern post boxes still bare the royal insignia from pre-partition days... or some crap like that. Most apparently see it as part of their country's history. Sinn Fein seem a bit obsessed with ridding anything remotely British from this island, probably including myself.
Methinks they're not being oppressed enough in the south if they're running out of shit to complain about - but I'm digressing - just wanted to point out the above issue in Cork.
Another good post. Unfortunately what's largely ignored about the Boyne and King Billy is that it was also a victory for Parliamentary Monarchy (and by proxy, democracy) over the Divine Right of Kings - but then you already knew that from my post at EU I just wonder how the Catholics would feel now if "they'd" won!
I say they, but most fighters were from England/Holland for William and France/Spain for James. Hmmmm.
