My dad's 43 years older than me, and I could never have asked for a better dad. It helps that, like yourself, he has a very young mentality, but there is no way I would ever have traded him in for a younger model.

I think at your age you find more time and have more patience to be a father. On the other hand, at my age, I'm raising a grandson and I feel like a creaky, crazy, old fart most days.

I don't know how it feels to have a dad 40 years older than you, but I would imagine it feels a lot better than having some irresposible 17 year old. I think older, more mature adults make better parents. Having been around long enough to see plenty of both, I think I'm fairly qualified to make that asessment. I think that's why so many kids raised by their grandparents turn out so well.
Besides you know what Oprah says. Today's 50 is like yesteryear's 30.
