Gravatar I always admired John Peel (and Anne Nightingale - whatever happened to her?).

He, of all the DJ's I can remember must surely have given more breaks to the up and coming than anyone else in radio.

I'm not so sure about being mourned by teenagers though - while a number of bands he promoted/gave airtime to went on to become 'stars', I'm not convinced the teenagers would credit John Peel with their big break.
