I had a quick look. I can't see it very well in the article. but on rapid inspection i'd say it's anything but misogynist. Looks like a painting about the stupidity of old men to me. We've all been there, chaps...
I say this guardedly - don't want to badmouth my sisters - but some of us do jump to yelling 'sexism' too fast. The relations of many male painters with their wives/women/models may have been diabolical, but the great painters/paintings rise above all that. As he does. Do you know Picasso's engravings by the way of the priapic old man as peeping Tom on the acivities of lovers? They're wonderful. And more than anything a comment on, a send=up of himself.
