"Ageing is a bugger" at any age, isn't it? Or does it get steadily worse? As a small child I cried before one of my birthdays because I didn't want to grow up. And before my now-middle-aged birthdays I've been staging magnificent repeat performances...
But as for: Granny is more than conscious that she and Mr R are the lucky ones. For the moment. "For the moment" might go on and on for a very long time. Maybe yes, maybe no, and fingers crossed for luck. Let's hope.

Some horrors disappear with age. Suppose they'd have to, to compensate for the newly arriving ones..As for the latter. I hope so too. Thanks especially for this comment D. It's a sad and difficult subject and I'm still not sure if I should have gone online with it, whatever Mr and Mrs R asked.

Right. Well the beauty of on line is that we can, should we choose, write about anything.
In your case you are sufficiently disguised and therefore protect those you love.
As to this post, I have found it incredibly moving. The thought of you and the first Mrs R watching seagulls soaring together.
Did you ask her if you might write about it? It sounds like you did.
My lodger, Ellie, has just brought down the shocking place that she has been working in - doing pallitive care. The people there were treated like animals. I shall write more about this.
I am unable to give you the articulate and thoughtful answer that this post deserves - and shall save part II for tomorrow - as I am so tired I can't think, but please, do not desist from writing from your heart.
What other place is there?

The homes;' yes. You're a help, Caroline. Thanks a lot. I'm tired too here and will answer you better elsewhere. Sorry you had such an awful day. (And physically exhausting one.)

Physically exhausting is so good for me.
Stops me thinking ALL the time. I think you know what I mean...

Yeah; know exactly what you mean. Only problem is being so exhausted you can't sleep. Then the thinking gets worse...
