Your poor dad... I think one of the most tragic things about lives from those times is their lack of choice about anything: roles and duties, defined by others.

Gravatar I have dirested the thousands (6) who read TP to this post. It's very moving.

Gravatar Well, I tried to - I had to delete it, I can't seem to post a link on my page.
Sorry.....

It's a wonderful post,I look forward to more.

Gravatar Thanks for sharing all this ... lots of it rings memory bells.

Gravatar Being woefully behind in the blogger phenomenom, I stumbled upon first Real E Fun, and through her, you.
You two have kept me entertained for the best part of a week as I've "caught up" on your very interesting lives!
I have truly loved the tales of life in the Canaries, which is much more exotic than the life of a American librarian (no, I did NOT vote for Bush!).

Gravatar Thanks everyone, Welcome Cat. Excuse me if this is brief. Am wrestling with new Mac - got fed up with fielding viruses and acquired the new machine thanks to subject of this post (who wouldn't understand it any way,,,) Am currently regretting it,,,Otherwise London life goes on.
