Gravatar What??? My mother is head of her local bee keepers association. She'll have something to do with this no doubt...

BTW My e mail server is currently down, sorry if you have written and I've not replied..I can send, but not recieve. *sob*.

I'm sure you will cheer up sad niece.

Gravatar We've got some bees nesting in the electric pole outside our house where we planted some geraniums to camoflage the ugly pole. Any ideas how we can get rid of them without getting ourselves stung? Just asking

Gravatar You could ship my mother over, she frequently dashes about in the middle of the night saving swarms..I kid you not.

I'd get a professional in. Have a wasps nests here that gets bigger slower but surely, I don't feel as fondly of it as I would a bee's nest.

Gravatar Bees are amazing. Have you ever had a swarm fly overhead? The noise is hard to believe. Your mother must be very cool, Caroline. And Omykiss, couldn't you just take out a nice pot of tea for the little dears and ask them politely? I bet they wouldn't mind moving on. Geraniums smell rather stinky, after all.

Hello, Grannyp! Hope all's well in the shit heap.

Gravatar Can any of you bee experts identify the type that nest underground? They're rather small, apparently harmless, and they got disturbed whilst digging some ground over for a new greenhouse. We also can't find them in any of the insect books.

What I really want to know is: if we keep digging, will we come to honey?

Gravatar Good heavens, What did I start. Didn't know bees nested independently. I only know about advice given by Beloved to college porter when consulted as animal man after swarm invaded his college. 'Leave them alone. They;ll go over the wall to Trinity,' They did. Yours sound more embedded though, I seem to remember something about removing the queen? Kind of dangerous... Short of importing Morphess' mother,.

What kind of honey are you looking for MG? Keep digging. Underground bees,.fancy that, .did you look them up on Google...?

Gravatar Further to this: took my own advice looked up 'ground bees' on Google. They don't sound harmless at all!

Gravatar further still MG. These are otherwise known as killer bees. One jolly man said 'Just take your stings. I had 15-20 one day.' Hope that cheers everyone up, Any use Omykiss?

Gravatar Hmmm, we used to have little bees that lived underground on the rock. They were entirely harmless (according to She Who Knows)but produced no honey.

Gravatar PHEW!
