Water is so very precious, ain't it...
Sometimes it's such fun to observe and even better when you have a favorite bar from which to watch!

Trouble in paradise. I'm never going to mention infinity pools again.
I despair, sometimes. But on the other hand someone, somewhere, sometime, had the sense to invent the aljibe. Is that the correct singular? I'm off to look it up on the internet...

I had no idea they were doing that to your island. Doesn't surprise me though. I hope you all fight back with all your might. I hate that fact that so much beauty is destroyed in the pursuit of tourist dollars.

Greetings everyone. Aljibes is quite right, Mark - though I suspect it's an arabic word originally which should end something else ('im'?) but who's counting now. Don't they do this to all coastal places, Kyah girl? Actually this island was luckier than most; it couldn't get going at all until the late 60's when they started desalination, and was well protected for many years from the usual abuses of the tourist industry. Then greed took over......however, there may be some limit to this. (Not least corruption at last is being looked at - more? Who knows. Well, I hope.)

I just googled aljibe and found something like a "bed and breakfast". I'll go back and surf some more.

I just googled aljibes and got a lot of websites in Spanish. At which point I admit I gave up...

Follow up - I just tried aljibe + origin - this got me to fact it is an arab word - but not a lot further. You might do better! (If you're THAT interested...)

Gosh granny p that was absorbing. Why do beautiful islands have a dirty underbelly. I was reminded of Sicily and the mafiosa. Is there an ewquivalent on your island?

Pat, we don't have a mafiosa as such - though I think there is one on at least one of the bigger islands. It just is a network of family connections - and a lot of people on the make for them and theirs. But if you want to see the real thing on much bigger scale look up Marbella + scandal - that's all about development and bribery of local councils, but it makes ours very small beer...
