Gravatar Oh dear. We know when we're doing the right thing for our kitties but at least for me it's always so sad.

Virtual hug sounds corny even to me but it's all I can offer to you.

Ann

Gravatar I'm so sorry to hear about your feline loss, Granny. Funny how those furry creatures, with their feined indifference, manage to worm their way into our hearts.

Gravatar Why indeed do we have animals who cause us such sadness. After losing my second dog, sadly, I called it a day.

Gravatar No, it's not a waste of feeling, because it's not only sadness that they cause us, is it? At the grieving time it can be difficult to remember other feelings - and more so at the end of such a short life - but we wouldn't feel so much grief at a pet's death if we hadn't had so much joy of them in the months or years that they lived.

It seems to me that FM had as good a life with you as he could have had anywhere, given his physical problems. You may not have been lucky with him, but I think he was very lucky to have you.

Gravatar Thanks everyone. Granny is still sad but comforted. She wishes someone would do a cat version for FM's sister, who, despite Beloved - the animal man's - claim that animals don't miss each other and it's anthropomorphic to think they do, has followed Granny round all today and yesterday. Miauing from time to time. She and FM haven't been apart since birth, hardly, so it wouldn't be surprising. Ah well. Scientists!

Gravatar Granny is brave, resolute and compassionate and she has my sympathies for her loss. Beloved sounds like a . . . man who like all men, (IMO) learn everything they know of the above qualities from the women in their lives but only ever manage to utilise a small fraction of such qualities. Pay no heed. Maybe FM's sister will need a companion?

Gravatar I'm sorry grannyp. It hurts to lose our companion animals.

why do we let them into our lives? why do we let anyone in? we are designed to feel. if it was all just happy stuff we'd have no point of reference. Sounds sappy but without the dark, you can't appreciate the light. for every animal I've loved, I've grown a bit as a person. makes it worth it. I hope you can see that too.

hugs,
Laura
