Just checking in instead of lurking.
Odd fauna you have there. (Is a mite a fauna?)

August there sounds like Wakes Week in Lancashire - only longer. Fascinating post. I'm seeing Mrs Handsome's umbelicus winking.
Might B have scabies? Sulphur ointment used to do the trick. I should give him a very wide berth until he's clear- but then I am very squeamish for an ex nurse.

Answer yes; mites are fauna. Answer no, Beloved is not suffering from scabies. Granny would recognise that, having spent much past time scrubbing daughter's body with evil substances in order to erradicate the slum infestation contracted at daughter's nice, mostly middle-class primary school. Reminded too that daughter's most serious dose of headlice (which granny too picked up) arrived from Pony Club Camp. Something not made apparent in all those jolly pony books Granny and daughter both grew up reading... Mites by the way have not reappeared. Yet.
