I'm so envious of your Cash/Carter experience. Wow.
And then the birthday celebration. I would have been in a puddle if there. What delight...a grandchild who sings and stuns not only the audience, but herself!
The banjo is a great instrument. I took lessons in the mid 70s and, being a hokey American, it's one of my favorite instruments for bluegrass, folk and country music. Hope your, ahem, elderly son-in-law enjoys his to distraction!

Thanks Lin, yeah it was all quite something. Daughter finds she can stun all her friends by saying she heard them - I'm glad of that too! As for the granddaughter(s). You wait!

Ooh, this is lovely stuff.
Hurrah for BEG and well done Granny for doing such a good job of consoling SBG.
So funny how you get stuck in your child's current age / stage of development and can't imagine them at any other. Same goes for parents. I can't imagine how it will be when there are family gatherings where my parents have three or more grandchildren present (there are two so far and another on the way - my sister's preggers), and at an age where they can have such traumas, be locking themselves in loos and needing coaxed out by my mother. What fun.

It all seems unlikely. Haven't caught up with them let alone myself yet. Never will probably....but thanks for this Clare. x
