Oh that is awful. You shouldn't blame yourself. The only crumb of comfort: she was wrappped in loving blankets.
I arrived at your blog via Dina's blog some years ago, and have lurked appreciatively for a few years, liking both your on-line self and the way you write. There have been so many things that you have written so movingly about; I'm not sure why it's this story that has me reaching for the comments box - but it does. And now that I'm here: what does one say? How awful. I am so sorry. What a poignant story, so beautifully told.

I posted earlier but was way back in time on your blog so don't know if you see it...I'm so sorry about your cat, reminded of when my mother ran over hers backing out of the garage. Pets get into trouble in such awful and unexpected ways, we'd go crazy trying to prepare for every contingency. Two years later she has another beloved cat--she never backs up anywhere without checking now.

Yes; funny how animals get under your skin. I'm still seeing my little cat around every corner. And then not seeing her. Tears.
Just stumbled upon your blog today. I am so sorry to hear about your sweet kitty. Of course, it surely is not your fault. And you must remember her lucky life, to have been with you. Don't define her by her death, that is unfair to her memory. Put her ending out of your mind forever. Best of luck to you. I will keep checking back to see when you get a new kitty to love.
