Love the poem. Is what I want - too. Or is that grasping or attachment to desire?
I don't know. It just sounds nice to not be averse to feeling aversion.
Reminds me of my third childbirth. Just as painful as the first two, but I was able to accept it and go deep into breath. The experience was fearless and and aversion-free. It made all of the difference, it gave the experience a sense of humor.

Laurie,
For a long time, I thought the breath practices of Lamaze were supposed to create a space where the mind felt no pain. After watching my wife labor to deliver our three children, and having lived a bit more life, myself, I've come to the conclusion that your experience is the right way to understand it -- the breath concentration liberates the mind from the suffering, not from the pain.

Yes, I keep learning that pain and suffering are two distinctly different things. To experience the pain is not that pleasant, but suffering doesn't have to be a part of it. I'm trying to learn - to catch my experience of aversion before it turns into the suffering.
