so very true. but why are there still so many silly people following the church?
my first time at city harvest was a very bad experience too, so after that i din went back.. but that din stop me from knowing God cause he has his own special ways of letting pple know him.. =)) now i'm at a church at my home area. well. anyway recently i went to Young Methodist Leaders Conference.. it was a really good experience there.. i got to say a word.. there might be things you yet not understand that God has been doing.. God made diff churches for diff purpose, some better at minstry, some better at evangelism, some healing, some Shepardind and others with others stuff. but in all, as long as we all hold one true gospel which is Jesus is the WAY, the TRUE and the Life.
John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
As long as the church holds to that believes, that doctrine.. that is the Church of God.. we are all the body of God, his nation, his people.
so lets embark on this mission together as one, and not divided for Jesus and Jesus alone..
so dun have bad feeling about City harvest ya? =)) i believe its the work of the holy spirit.. confirm is..
Yea! I agree wif u:) If we have bad feelings against each other, how then will we, in unity bring the lost to Jesus Christ?
As for the offering part, the church challenges people to give their best to God and not something which doesn't really worth much to them. If Jesus can sacrifice so much for us by dying on the cross and washing our sins away with His blood to give us eternal life, why can't we sacrifice for Him too, am I right?
Well, different people have different opinions but eventually, it's between us and God because God looks at our hearts, amen? =D

Atheism doesn't exploit the foolishness in people, its not a religion, so how could it do so. its just someone with the absence of God, you clearly do not understand the word atheism.

so if you are against the idea of offering money to church,make sure your non-cult church doesn't do it because you said indirectly that only a cult church will ask for offerings.do inform your pastor to not ask for offerings.

Very nicely written. Love the humour. I attended a City Harvest rock sermon just once, some years back when they were still in the old Hollywood cinema, after I had given up on the equally appalling FCBC, just to find out what nonsense they were spouting. It was worse than I thought.
I vividly recall Kong Hee's gems such as, "Why do we want a $48mil church when we can build one for $8mil? Why do we want titanium cladding, the biggest auditorium, sound system, blah blah blah? Because our God's name is not El Cheapo! Our God's name is El Shaddai!"
As if that were not sufficiently astounding in itself, the deafening applause that erupted from all around the hall following his proclamation certainly left me with a gaping jaw. Among the handouts given was a list of amounts donated for the church building fund, broken down into professions such as self-employed, housewife, student etc. And the figures stated were not a trivial sum.
It was a while after that that the matter of his wife's pastorhood came into question and she denied she had ever been called pastor. Yet at that rock sermon I attended, her husband referred to her as "Pastor Sun". The entire congregation must be in denial.

anyway i guess people has a choice to do what they believe in. It's beyond our control. We should see the fruits, the outcome of what they do if its of good cause. hmm.. probably we should be slow to judge them. Who are we anyway to judge? we make no difference as hypocrites if we only know how to criticize them. We should show love instead.
Hi.Different church have different purpose that God has installed for them. I believe no church is right or wrong, God never compare churches and also never compare people. At the end of the day, God want the each church to do his will and his purpose and each church and person will do specific good work to bring glory to the kingdom of God. Thus, i think CHC and others churches are one body of Chirst, each doing different set of work for God and bring Him glory in each different areas in this world.Amen

City harvest has preached the heretical prosperity gospel for the longest time.

To Leila: If prosperity gospel is heretical , why do you use the word gospel? Since everyone use this word gospel in that term, it will be contradicting. Perhaps the 'good' christians should rephase the term prosperity gospel or else they will be calling good as evil. How can something from the gospel can be heretical. Here a advice for you, you need to be mroe sharp not to be mislead by the world, by the stuff you read or heard. Also, i heard good christians love everyone and will not do stuff like boycotting as they have souls to save. You need to ask the world to boycott them not the christians, CHC will not really affect the christians' world but the world outside.
Lol, it seems to be that the christians are being confuse by Balderdash's blog. After all, the real meaning of Balderdash is a board game of bluffing and trivia by Mark Powell and Bradyn Blower.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balderdash) The blogger is so confusing, maybe he need to clear his mind be reading the first 5 books of Moses and find out how Abraham,Isaac,Jacob and Joseph become rich by God's providence. As you can know the only time they God provide in a supernatural means is then God send a ram to Abraham for a scarfice. The rest of the cases was God bless them through people such as the Pharaoh and rulers of the land they lived in. My point is if you guys after reading his blog , please read more , such as the bible. Otherwise , it is so easy to be misled. Good christians read the bible, not reading blogs and the qutoes used from the bible. I wonder what is good christians and what is not?
Well i guess prosperity gospel is still part of the gospel unless one day 'good' christians remove verses about it. (That remind me of a religion that hold Council to vote which part of their holy book to accepted or rejected.) That will be interesting as it will be a majority led, not spirit-led choice.

I wont say city harvest is a church. I have long branded it as a cult with a whole bunch of other so called 'churches'. Apparently their school of thought is just to drain you dry, emotionally, physically and financially.

agrees with lol, i'm sorry to say this but you sound like one who has plenty of time to spare, going to city harvest just to observe how it's like and then criticising ALMOST every single practice they have. you mean you attend service not to hear the word of God, but to find things you can critise? everyone has different ways of doing things, just like how we all have different habits. and if you think you can do better than chc in serving God and saving the people, like what you have stated "Besides religious services and Bible Study classes (I can start my own too!)" why not build a church of your own then? or start your own religious services and bible study classes instead of wasting time observing such crap? i'm sure God will pour His blessings onto you. :)
