Perhaps a dulcimer of some kind? Like the kind you play on your lap. (Appalachian/mountain dulcimer)

Just a cheap travel guitar. Go to the guitars section on eBay, type in "travel*" and you'll see loads of theses.

GLWilson's right.
Lots of weird ones under that query, like the Fernandes Nomad and the Pignose one (bith with built-in speakers)

It's an Applecreek travel guitar... cheap indeed.
Nice shape though.

I don't "get" the shape. I don't understand the reasoning behind it.

well, that's just ergonomics, the lower curve allows to rest the guitar on the leg more easily, no?

Why the asymettry? It's not an attractive design. It just looks wrong to my eyes.

the curve on the top of a regular acoustic guitar is just useless - so it's like on the Ovation Breadwinner... less volume, less weight, more travel!

You can't compare this horrible creation to a thing of beauty like the Ovation Breadwinner. The Breadwinner was designed whereas this looks like it was arrived at by accident.
I can't see that the shape makes it any more compact. Sorry.
