Be of good faith lil lady. Here's the deal. Like you I have been to a race or two. The people there ... huge numbers .... love the military. Hell in some cases they ARE the military. They do make time for a salute to the military.
Then we get to TV. Welcome again to the media. They are the ones who dump most of the emotion and feeling.

For example is where to tell Chevy you want more military tribute on NASCAR.
Guys like Hendrix who run Chevies listen to GM, so do the Pontiac guys.
As you may recall the president of the UAW, kicked Marine reservists out of his parking lot for having George Bush stickers on their cars, and some for driving foreign cars.
Once it became public and he was really flamed, he retracted that. Of course by that time the Marine I&I there made other permanent parking arrangements. Like he said he didn’t have any time for silly parking issues, he was training Marines to go to Iraq. That was the 25th Marine Regiment by the way, who lost all those Marines in that Amtrac.
The point is when what he did was outted for that action he got it shoved down his throat. Same with NBC or FOX or whoever if someone complains to the money source, and the road to that source is GM Ford Chizzler, and sponsors like Hendricks.

It may have been NBC more than Nascar. Afterall, NBC did figure out a way to plug the Arena Football League by having a team's owner(s) provide a mini-concert. 
I wondered where all the attention to the military went, too.
I'm a little dismayed that the military is getting shoved into the background, too.
Here in Iraq, we dont get to see comercials. No big deal, BUT we do see the National Anthem and we pay attention. Super Bowl was first and now NASCAR?? Pull that crap in former Russia and it will be the last time you pull it.

Time to realize NASCAR stopped being a sport when the likes of A.J. Foyt retired. Punishing "aggressive driving style"??? WTF?!?!?!

Jeff - I hear ya! A while ago a reporter asked Tony what was missing from racing, to which he replied "fist fights!". Just one of several reasons I can't stay mad at the guy!
