I heard all about Friday night and so sorry I had to miss out on all the fun, but I will be back soon. Probably by the end of March after my gallbladder surgery. I cannot wait to be there with you all again!
Thanks Gunn for all the great updates every week. It makes me feel like I was there with you all. Well, I was not physically with you guys and gals, but i sure am in spirit.

I know you say it charges your batteries to do this ... but not as much as it charges ours.
Thanks for all you do Nutty Gunn Woman. (with all appropriate affection from one of the old guys)
By the way just bought a membership at a local gun club .. .time to take Pete out for some shootin. The Army National Guard really does not give those guys enough trigger time.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
This is how people used to talk in yesteryear,200+ ago. Today doers like our soldier over seas are insuring that the God given right of all men to govern themselvs is upheld, and if it means kicking some serious ass along the way, so be it. Tards don't know this, that's why they leave before their curtain call..

That poor old woman out there in that weather. Here's hoping at least that Perry Pinko blocks the wind.

Doll - Gallbladder? Ouch! I hope you recover quickly - it'll be nice to see you again.
LF - I hope you're feeling better soon, too. We need you back!
Melinda - The Pinkos won't know what hit 'em when all you great bloggers show up!
Donna - I wish you were here, too.
jim b - Good for you! Your boy needs to be prepared and you're the best one to help him train!
SK - I'm glad you'll get the chance to see first hand why it's such a pleasure to do this every week.
Laurie - You betcha! Wouldn't miss that night for the world.
fm - No, thank you for interpreting my dreams of violence against hippies as being perectly normal!
BO - 'tards are wimps!
LF - Perry was either blocking the wind from her, or blocking my camera.

I was sittin here thinking, Capt B, Taco and Sgt M are all home and in one piece. It's time for me to take a different tack in troop support. I was reviewing Any Marine for a likely suspect or two. I decided to find a high stepping low crawling oversexed underpaid teenage killer (Infantry) to support. It was a surprise that there are only like 3 or so listed. Those guys must be just too far out to have regular computer access. But I did find a few ... one grunt platoon commander, and a first sergeant shillin for his troops, and one Recon type. You can tell they have a sizable level of need, they are not able to microwave, cool etc. so they don't want a lot of fancy stuff. The First Sergeant mentioned socks and foot powder ... a true grunt... gotta love him.
I am relatively new to blogs etc, but grateful for the experience. A lot of members of my class want to throw in for a goodie box too, now and then I am really proud of a bunch of them. So this weekend we will begin the quest .. we will organize and mail to a few good grunts.
The saying is "Artillery lends dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl."
To which grunts respond, "Infantry lends a dash of vulgarity to what would otherwise be a very stuffy affair."
Time to support the vulgar ones.

I swear jim b..you've got a million of 'um! So funny!
I've sent many packages thru anysoldier and it is very rewarding. I had one of my soldiers killed early on, and I really had to regroup from it. Sgt. Frank Hernandez will forever be in my thoughts. Even though I never really knew him, his life changed me.
Good for you jim b!

Ssssteve - Thanks for checking in. I appreciate your support!
jim b - Gotta love them "teenage killer" types! They grow up to be so impressively ... well, impressive! I'm happy to hear your students want to participate!
Yes, there's been a change of guard overseas so we need to find new warriors to support. I've got a step-nephew who fits the bill perfectly - PFC Matt, USMC! Poor kid has a crazy aunt he's never met who's going to embarass the heck out of him with her bragging.
Donna - You poor thing, I know it must have hurt like hell to lose the Sgt. Bless you for caring so much about these brave souls and for continuing to help and support them. Semper Gratus!!!!!

I agree with Jimmyb... you charge our batteries at least as much as your actions charge your own. Great work! Wish I was closer to WR so I could do stuff like that. Instead, I must do my counter-protesting and re-educating from my computer.
Great post!

You know Donna you have always impressed me as a 'stand up kinda woman'. Thank God you are also so resilient. Losing someone is always a real kick in the guts. It takes intestinal fortitude to come back, and pick up another service guy to support and continue the march.
I salute you darling.

Oh, and never forget, you made his life better. You made him feel that someone he never met cares. You healed his spirit in the quiet of the night when no one else was around. You took him out of the crap for a few moments of blissful refreshment.
Perhaps you will meet him in the next world, and he can thank you.
