My question today (and subsequently proposed in correspondence to local law officers) is how would this simulation have been different if the planners had added an armed citizen to the mix?
Would cops have shot him/her in mistake?
That's a popular claim that needs tested. If they do, then maybe police training needs revised.
Would the CCW have stopped the thug or just gotten killed?
Another claim that needs testing.
So, I asked Chiefs Buske and Casady and Sheriff Dunning to consider asking a civilian CCW volunteer to participate in the next drill (without telling the "thug" and responding officers, of course).
Somehow, me thinks they shan't take me up on my idea.
Likely too scared to let the public (and the media) know that a CCW dropped the thugs DRT before the ESU jocks got to their cruisers.

I believe you are right. They are to afraid of the results to test the theory.

It describes what happened when Jack Rumbaugh of Suarez International ran Virginia Tech-based scenarios at The Warrior's Forge in Manassas, VA.
Hint: the shooter would have never made it out of the first classroom with even UNARMED resistance.

Whenever you are out in public, you have a personal responsibility to defend yourself and your friends as best you can. This responsibility comes with your inherent right to defend yourself and others. Like two sides of a coin.
You can't count on your neighbors or your government to help you with this personal responsibility. The flip side is you shouldn't let anyone else hinder you either. Neither signs nor laws can excuse your failure, so why should they stop you?

Good 'ol Walter, nice pic.
Looking at the quality of security they have in NFM, I wouldn't count on them for anything.
I agree that Concealed Carry is a good magazine. The guy running it is a nutjob though, he had a decent informational forum/website going online, and then he cuts it off to everyone except those that pay his premium $$$ subscription to access his forum. Too much good info for free on the web.
