Won't go as far as damian..but have to say I disagree with special treatment of celebs(call it Tall Poppy Syndrome if you must) but if you have private health insurance...you still have to wait till the specialist can treat you and even if you have $$$ you still have to wait. My dad had private insurance for years, had gall bladder probs (could hardly eat and was in constant pain) and the specialist could not operate for 3 weeks, Dad searched about ,as did his GP, and even offered to pay above rates without claiming on insurance..to no avail. Still had to wait 3 weeks in pain and then nearly died when probs occured due to WAITING SO LONG!!! So what made the Singing Budgie so special that she was operated on within 60 hours of diagnosis? If no one at Cabrini complained OK but they paid for their private rooms too.
Cabrini is a private hospital. All who check in there pay for different (not neccessarily better) treatment than those who check into Northern or Sunshine. Kylie probably paid more than the other Cabrini whingers did. So what . Thats private medicine. The alternative would be for them to have the room next to Kyles with idiot UK press nongs posing as their relatives and hiding under their bed or trying to bribe their nephew to get into the ward.
Anyway from what I can see no patients complained. Its that champion of excellence, meritocracy, business efficiency, patient care and ex HSU nongs in parliament the HSU making cheap publicity grabs.
People were having to walk throughICU to visit family, were questioned by guards as to whom they were visiting and had to be escorted in and out og ICU by a nurse, its being investigated.Complaints were made. My point was that even if you offer to pay extra for faster service you don't get it if you are Joe Average (ie my dad) but if you are a singing budgie you do? Incidently PHI (private health insurance) premuims vary but it does'nt mean you get a better bed than others. You might have to share but you get a rebate if you have to do that and have a private room option.
