Very good overview of the role of experts in criminal cases. I wish jurors viewed ALL experts in the same light as you describe - witnesses with expert information for their consideration and not automatically dismiss defense experts, thinking "they must be paid for their opinion." After all, prosecution witnesses aren't up there for free either.
