I heartily agree with you that every day is appropriate to honor those who serve... Unfortunately, many need reminders, and this is their annual reminder to appreciate the sacrifices of others that enable us to live in freedom. And I am grateful that it has not become a "long weekend" holiday - it's not picnics and parties as many other holidays have become.
