You're right. we need to start producing something and begin creating real wealth.
Right now all we are making is Hot air, deficits and excuses.

You think the failed government will go away with a whimper when the economy crashes. They will not let go of the power they have been using. I foresee an underground economy slowly taking over. The form of government that usually is left is not going to be a representative government.
RayG..yeah...an underground economy already thrives in this country...more than the drug business.
I am not all that sure that we have a representative government anymore. The democrats have managed to get votes recounted until they win in too damn many places which tells me the time proven democrat principle of vote and vote often is what rules the country.
A true democratic process is the worst of all possible governments because it is in fact mob rule. As has been said, once the mob learns that they can vote themselves the profits of those who produce they will do so...and yesterday's action in the House of Representatives is the epitome of mob rule.
When the economy tanks completely the government will fall...it needs money to operate and the money it prints to operate will be worthless...and a new government of some type will emerge...I suspect something in the order of ancient Rome where a republic failed and an empire that lasted for centuries emerged.
I fear this will result more in America becoming a sub-let of China, since they hold the script for the Feds loans. We are largest debtor nation now.
Just the interest on those loans is more than social security (now empty), military, and education budgets combined. I'm afraid it's also too late to go back to the "gold standard". That's leaves us using dollar bills as toilet tissue some day in future.
Chevy Rose...the dollar is now based on the productivity of American business...and American business due to government regulations and taxes is producing less and less every year. The dollar has no way to go but south and I expect to see some raging inflation even worse than we saw during the Carter years within a couple of years.
All we can do is try to prepare for the worst and hope for the best but any hope that I had is gone until we manage to get rid of Obama and his socialist cult followers.
