I do not care that Oberman and Mathews are clearly left-leaning. Historically the news media has had an axe to grind. The concept of a "neutral" news report is a fairly new concept (and never really true). It is the insistence that they do NOT have a bias that pisses me off. At least the old papers told you where they stood: " The County Democrat or Morning Republican..." for example.
On the issue of putting big issues to the vote: it's a two way street. I would hate for gun control to be put to a national vote because I'm not so sure that 51% of the voting public want me to have a handgun.
They call it tyranny by majority. I'll leave their abortion alone if they leave my guns alone.
hoosierboy..CORRECT! If not for biased news reporting this republic would have never happened. But at the time the media in favor made no claim to be 'objective'.
