Gravatar What do you think about the Infocus X9 on TIger Direct. 600 looks like an amazing price.

Gravatar Hi David - I like your site. I think I'm a bit like you in that I research a LOT before buying and I like all different kinds of display technology.

I find that the flat panel LCD world is harder to research than projectors... I'm thinking of maybe getting a sub-$500 LCD sometime. I find it hard to tell what the good panels are and especially what type of scaler/de-interlacers are used. I like the Vizio line but I have not been able to see them all in person.

Any tips for researching LCDs or distinguishing good buys in general (for LCDs)?

Thanks,
Mark

Gravatar For LCDs, I would try to see if a name brand is in your price range first. Sony Panasonic, and Samsung are the best. I have a Vizio 32" which I like, but I mainly bought it because it was cheap ($325 with cash back from MNS). If you are going to buy a Vizio make sure to read as many reviews as you can as they vary greatly by model. Cnet.com is always a good place to start. You might also try using the review search engine on ecoustics.com. I also read user reviews on amazon and newegg.com just to see how real people like their items. Lastly. the AV Science forums are always the BEST place to get the best user advice. Good luck. Let me know if you narrow it down and I'll give you some input.
