Horrendous!!! How terribly inhuman can the very relatives of the child ever be?
Don't they remember their pain and agony or is this a way of taking revenge?

HORRIFIC! BIZZARE! BRUTAL! TERRIFYING! What kind of madness is this? Is it done in the name of religion? How long will it take us to appreciate that ALL religions have their own forms of horror, ignorance and stupidity ... and concentrate on the one universality: LOVE

Sorry, Semele, but I don't buy your religion equivalency. Judaism and Christianity do not contain this kind of mutilation horror one bit. Islam is in a class all by itself.

Im a muslim and this kind of human rights violation is not allowed i think in any religion. Not even in Islam. These people do it in the name of religion.I read it sumwhere tht they do it to make their girls tight for their husband n to increase male sexual pleasure.N islam doesnt allow anything that is harmful for ur body. The hadiths that stated that our prophet pbuh said to perform FGM or anything like tht are not true.FGM is not related to Islam in any way.

Sonja, like everywhere, there is a difference between religion and tradition and culture. It's when those lines get blurred that people and nations suffer endlessly.

Wow, Genital mutilation is horrible but the blatant bigotry is unnecessary. Genital mutilation predates Islam and is banned by the Koran it is not a part of Islamic culture and really has nothing to do with Islam.
It is banned by Islam, Judaism, and Christianity but is still practiced by small groups in all three religions.
So why is Islam singled out for criticism? It seems to me if anything they should be applauded, since they're the ones organizing to fight this terrible practice.

Dear WTF, while I agree that it is a cultural thing, the Quran does NOT ban FGM. If you have any Sura and verse I'd like to see it.
The problem is that Islam allows women to be subjugated, beaten and treated as property and so FGM is thought by many Muslims to be part of their religion even though it is not.
If Islam were a true religion of compassion FGM would have been stopped when Muslims took over the cultures in which it is practiced.
When Americans came to America they did not adopt as part of American culture the practice of scalping. If Islam came to America before Columbus then today in the streets of American cities Muslims would be scalping each other. That is the nature of Islam. It didn't start FGM, but it adopted the heinous practice as its own. And that is why we in the west should abhor Islam.

You're absolutely right, Bernie. And wtf, you suggest we should applaud Islam? For what? For nothing. For Zero. Let's put it this way: if Muslim "scholars" can all agree that killing Jews and Christians is a terrible custom, then I'll have reason to consider Islam as a religion, rather than a barbaric political movement that should be crushed post-haste. I would be very careful, wtf, because Islam is Shari'a and Shari'a is nothing but moral absolutes, Islam is the personification of absolutism, especially moral absolutism, it is the most rigid, unforgiving, unbending religion on the planet. Morality is, whether you care to admit or not, in the eye of the beholder. FGM (Female circumcision and slavery, and stoning, and honor killing) are moral in Islam.
