As goes Baghdad ...
I wonder what the monthly breakdown would look like.

Brian,
MNC-Iraq is stating the average number of attacks per week is currently holding
at ~200 per week country wide. Which would be < 30/day
The 3 month average..looking at the posted chart is 70-80/day.

Baghdad currently is probably about 10 violent attacks a day out of a total of about 28 violent attacks a day. (My conjecture.)
Everyone, I am going off topic. I would like to honor the many native Americans who have so nobly served in the US military:
http://www.latimes.com/news/
opin...0,5853530.story
"the Indian scouts who served the Army in the 19th century became one of the precursors to the Army Special Forces, also known as Green Berets."
We do not honor our brave GIs and allies nearly enough. {It might be argued that American ingratitude, forgetfulness and disloyalty with respect to our allies is one of the largest causes of Anti-Americanism in the world.}

Lisa,
There is a whole ton of "Propaganda" related to the status of forces agreement. I haven't seen any factual evidence or even remotely believable story that the US will have any more than 5 Brigades in Iraq 5 years from now.
5 Brigades = 5 Bases. Tallil in the South, AlAsad in the West, Qayarrah in the North, Balad in the Center and Victory in Baghdad.
The purpose will primarily Air Defense
as Iraq doesn't have any Air Defense Capability.

The press keeps claiming 58 US bases. That is BS. Access and facilities for training teams at 58 Iraqi bases does not equate to 58 US bases.
SD has named the five bases we are looking at. And those will be and are Joint US/Iraqi Bases. The five brigades are the security for air assets providing the air defense of Iraq. Iraq is not planned to start getting their own fighters until 2011 at earliest and their own MoD says they will not be able to cover air defense until 2018-2020.
Keep in mind that Iran is doing a full court press of propaganda on this subject. They do not like US being there. It prevents the Persians from recovering their Mesopotainian provinces that they lost to a Greek upstart called Alexander 2300 years ago...

I am reading a book about the history of the Middle East right now...very interesting.
I realized it was propaganda but I thought maybe we to help dispel their lies.
Who other than you to do that.

okay... what is your read on the latest piece from Sey Hersh, the New Joker(Yorker) and Iran. I haven't read it yet...I will. My husband bought a book for me written by Hersh the other day from the Dollar Tree!!! Bob thought I would like it. I laughed that a book of his was at the Dollar Tree.
Off to read the pieced from Hersh.
And one thing else someone said on one of the morning talk shows about McCain. They said he was willing to be lonely to do the correct thing...something all good leaders and parents I might add should have.
Anyway...

Okay, I still think an attack on Iran will be a mistake.
My Bob seems to figure that Israel will "take care" of Iran.
I also think this is playing with fire. But hey, maybe we have some sadists out there that enjoy being burned.
I remember reading a long intense study by someone a hell of a lot smarter than I about the Iran thing.
It came up with the same thing...I think it said the only way to win is not to play the game.
What do you guys think?

Lisa,
I don't read Seymour Hersh...if by some chance I found myself agreeing with him I would suspect that I had slipped into some sort of insanity and have to go to the mental hospital.
We all fill factual voids with something in order to form a mental picture.
What Sy Hersh fills predictable factual voids with is conspiracy theories. For a politico's or intelligence operatives...people like Sy Hersh are what is known as "Useful Tools".
Give him two of the three facts that he will need to form a mental picture and he will spin a believable conspiracy theory. All quality propaganda contains provable truths.
Without knowing who is feeding Seymour Hersh information and why ,making an informed judgment about his writings is impossible.
Talk of war with Iran benefits those that benefit from high oil prices.

Oil soared past 143 dollars a barrel on tensions in Iran as investors also sought refuge from a weaker dollar.

Are you there?
Please pray for my girl.
They found something wrong with Jessie's heart. The EKG came back abnormal..possible left ventricle something another. She has Tachardia.
I have that. They blamed mine on my nerves and now I have all kinds of problems.
They are doing a echo on her heart in the morning. and then a halter test. They said they would go ahead and do the kidney stone thing because it is minor but we are thinking about not doing that until we find out what is wrong with jessie's heart. The nurse who did he EKG in the preop said she had an erratic heart beat and then we were told she needed to go to the cardiologists right away.
She will not be doing a stress test because her heart rate is too high. She stays tired all of the time.
Please pray for my girl.

Let me know if you are there.
We decided to wait on the kidney stone thing until the heart is taken care of. Jess said she was hungry and scared. I said the stone can wait but her heart cannot.
I sat in front of a cardiologist years ago with the same problems and was told it was my nerves. Then guess what-it was not.
Luckily for Jess she is stubborn and told them it was not her nerves.
They found all this upon doing her pre-op-nurse looked straight at her and told her she needed to see a cardiologist. Then the doc that was going to zap the stone called and told us to get the Cardiologist ASAP.
AND I AM SCARED AND MY HEAD HURTS>
AND I AM PISSED OFF.

Jesse was sent to you by Him, and He will take care of her.

Anand,
That is so very beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you.
A family member of mine and I were talking yesterday. Her husband was my cousin Josh. I talked about being afraid of not being in control of things-she said she was at the point now where she was glad she was not in control of things. I thought about that and I said yeah...me too. I am glad I am not in control and God is. It's hard to come to terms with that fact sometimes. That this is temporary and we really have no control over it. Meaning that we will hurt along the way. That the words long suffering I never thought of that outside of verses being read until one painful thing after another began to happen...and those they things were final at least here on Earth as I had once knew them.
When they called for Jessie to come back for more tests, it was one of those "not this" moments for me.
And you know what? God sent many words to comfort me and Jess. He sent people to help- and you were one of them Anand. Thank You.
