That would be enough Junji to form the 5x new Bdes...
1895/Bde of Junji (private)
Remaining ~700 are experienced Cadre.

Going on line (C3):
- Rest of 4-9 Bde - Taji
- 4-4 Bde - Samarra
- MP Bde (half IA) - at Samarra but going to Baghdad
Probable others:
- 1-11, 2-11 and 3-11 - Tikrit (new forming Division)

A couple of notes:
- The machine translator Al Sabaah uses has consistently referred to Divisions as Brigades.
- I SOF is already an Airborne Brigade and there are four IA Brigades that are Airmoble. Two of them in 6th IA Div in Baghdad.
Why am I suspecting a split of 6th IA Div and combination with I SOF to form 6th IA Airborne Division (AAslt)?

C2: 3-9 and all the remaining original 36 excluding 1-7, 2-7 and 3,7.
C3: 4-9, 10-5, 4-4
C4 (but close to C3): two of the first six brigades planned for 4th/11th IAD. Military Police brigade for joint IA/IP division in Baghdad.
3-4 and elements of 4-2 are in Diyala? Any parts of 1-2 and 2-2 sent there?
C5 but close to C4, 4-7 (I still think training starts next cycle--end July, Military replacements to build IA bns back to 110% will continue simultaneously, if at a smaller clip)
43 IA brigades total excluding SI Brigades and SOF.
DJ, you are right that 6th IAD is likely to lose three brigades to the new IA/INP divisions.
Maybe some Cadre and junji from 6th IAD will be recruited for SOF, but SOF is needed as a Seals, Delta Force type organization (with some Ranger like components). Not as and an airborne division.

baghd...OB20May2007.JPG much improved. Is 4-1 now is Falluja, as 2-1 deploys to Bayaa?
I also noted that 2-6 is now on its own in Rufasa. Elements of 2-9 have pulled out (for use as strategic reserve in Baghdad and Diyala)
I would add a note that (Q) means completed Quicklook 2. But that is quibling around the edges.
For INP, it looks like only 4 brigades:
1st INP Mech, 5-2, 6-2, and the new 10th INP brigade now forming (C4) have not completed Quicklook II. All will complete Quicklook II within 4 months. Training for Quicklook III will start in less than 5 months. Will it be 9 weeks in duration (with two weeks between classes)?

Definition already added for next one. You were the second to notice that and comment.
Quicklook III is not classes. Field Training. That is already in-progress. You will know when an INP Bde has finished when it goes in-lead.
Putting I SOF into an Airborne Div does not take away from tasking. It just puts them in closer cooperation with the next most elite of the IA. Where do you think their new recruits will come from for I SOF?
More likely is I SOF expansion to Div is what the MoD means by Airborne Div...

"More likely is I SOF expansion to Div is what the MoD means by Airborne Div" Insightful . . . might be right.
