$\"Gravatar\"$ Thanks for the update! Glad the Xootr and the Recon II are treating you so well. The sidewalks in Atlanta can be pretty ragged, though - I am not sure a Xootr would be a good investment for me, given the number of face plants I would surely do!

$\"Gravatar\"$ Well, now I'll have to own up to my only scooter spill! As Janice knows, back in May I fell while scootering. This happened when I misjudged the scooter's ability to handle uneven pavement. I hit a rise that was maybe three quarters of an inch high. The scooter stopped, but I didn't. I managed to keep my face off the concrete, but I did sprain my rib cage, resulting in a few days of significant discomfort.

Most of my scootering has been on asphalt trails that are in generally good condition. Bad pavement is certainly a threat. One advantage of the Xootr is that its wheels are significantly larger than those of many popular scooters, so it should be better able to handle rough pavement. Nevertheless, it has its limits, as I learned the hard way!
