You would have given the RAF nitwit a choice. "Look, you can tell us where exactly Captain Crouchback is....or....we will break every freakin' finger in both your hands. Which would you prefer?"
Yes, well . . . we might frog walk the airman to the doctor on duty and find the missing officer using gentlemanly appeals, followed by threats of extreme violence.
As it turned out, Crouchback was admitted by the name of A. N. Other in order to protect his identity while preparing for a "secret" mission. Captain Freemantle at least should have known that. A comedy of errors, it would seem . . .
