Gravatar Having had the honor of serving the families of the fallen through the PGR in recent years, that portion of the video touched me deeply. I think I lose all control over my temper when people do and say things that are hurtful to these families. I have a love in my heart for them all that I honestly never felt when it was "some distant family" I didn't know. When you are in a position to hold the doors open as the flag draped coffin is brought through, followed by grieving family, it changes your heart and soul forever. I so admire the troops who take on the task of not only informing the family of their loss, but serve by their side every step of the way. Not every young troop, even the bravest, can handle that detail on an emotional level. I salute them all.

Gravatar My cousin graduates from Parris Island in two weeks.

Gravatar I was once a member of the detail who made the initial contact with the family who had lost a loved one. Breaking the news to a family was one of the hardest things I have ever been a part of.

Military funerals, to this day, are difficult for me to be a part of.
My heart breaks each time I see a flag draped coffin, hear the report of the rifles being fired in salute and the sound of the bugler playing TAPS.

Gravatar Thank you. That was incredible.
