I held and fed Daniel his bottle when he was a baby. I watched him grow up. And to think that he's now a Marine!
My only regret is that Daniel's patriotic grandfather, also my cousin and like a brother to me, didn't live long enough to see his grandson serve in the Marine Corps.
I shall notify Daniel's mother so that she can see this.

This is typical of Mustang's thoughtfulness and care of, and for, young (and sometimes, not so young) Marines. Mustang has encouraged, trained and guided many Marines and is also worthy of high praise here.

Congratulations on your accomplishment. Our country needs high quality young people that have self discipline and think beyond their own personal lives. daniel, there are no worthy words to thank you for your service, nor repay you when that service is done - much as we cannnot repay mustang and tad and all of the others who have so selflessly put themselves in harms way for all of u.s. i'm certain dc is too proud for words as your parents and other family members most certainly are.
go with god, daniel and know that no matter what the media says, we are here in support and love and AWE of your sacrifice. thank you for being willing to give so that we may all live in freedom.
Daniel, thanks for your service, now as a fresh Marine, and later as a proud Veteran. Service to your country is a good thing whether as an airman, sailor or soldier. But being a Marine, is something special.
You are officially, Private Good and that is a title to be proud of, but really, what you are doing is in the Public Good. So again, this old dog-face salutes you and thanks you from the bottom of his heart.

Though I'm a retired Navy man there is a special place in my heart for the USMC, especially after serving with their finest RECON Marines in Iraq. Private, thank you for heeding the call of your country. My family owes you a deep debt for which we can't ever repay. Be brave and always faithful

Daniel's mother has finally had time to read this post. She said in her email:
"Please tell Mustang thank you and also the quote at the top is one of Daniel's favorites. Also, I just spoke with Daniel today and he will be staying at camp Geiger for A school. His MOS will be motor T, he will be ground support for the humvee's. He has been in the field for a week and sounds like he is loving every minute of it! "
Daniel's mother also points out that Daniel's stepfather Mike is an inactive Marine and "Daniel likely picked the Marines as a result of" his stepfather's influence.
What a wonderful young man to fill that uniform and his family with the pride and dignity of the USMC. I congratulate him and his family and thank them all for his service. 
Thank you to Mustang a everyone who has taken the time to post a note to Daniel. As his mother, I could not be more proud of my son for his choice to join the United States Marines. His step-father was also a Marine and has an even deeper sense of pride for Daniel and what he has accomplished by earning this title.
To Daniel,
You have accomplished what some can not comprehend and what some will never understand but always hold your head high in being a United States Marine. We love you!
