Why must a dissenter from the policies of the Bush administration be a defeatist or an isolationist? Isn't it possible that these people (our govt.) have made a strategic blunder and followed it up with glaring incompetence?

I can accept the charge of glaring incompetence. The war was not a blunder. The blunder was trying to prosecute it with Rumsfeld's army. And, the incompetence was taking so long to recognize the blunder and doing something about it.

But, there is a group of politicians in Washington that--true to isolationist instinct--are sounding the call for retreat. It's too bad about the earlier incompetence, but to retreat now will have negative consequences over the long term.
