Gravatar I dont mean to be evasive but the topic is so complex isnt it!

Gravatar I'm glad you asked...

What gets me is that it is used as a litmus test--are you for a woman's right to choose or not?--and no one addresses other aspects of the question. Such as, does a woman have a right to choose to get pregnant in the first place? Answer: Of course she does.

But, then, if she chooses to get pregnant, what gives her the right to kill the unborn child? Is the child her inhuman property for her to dispose of as she wishes? There are some cultures (e.g., Chinese) that feel that way. Is this what we want for ourselves?

There was a time when men accorded women a special deference because of their biological role in life.

But, the feminists tossed all that in favor of self-actualization. As if being a mother was somehow demeaning; a form of servitude towards males.

Nothing could be further from the truth. And, society has suffered because of that attitude: The broken homes and the breakdown of core family values.

But, still, everyone ploughs on using Roe v. Wade and abortion rights as a litmus and our politicians kowtow to it. And, never a discussion about what a "woman's right to choose" really means and how it is destroying us.

Gravatar Given that the developing baby is not genetically the same as the woman, it isn't so much what the woman is doing with HER body, but that of the baby that is objectionable.
