The alternative is to be skeptical and believe everyone you meet is capable of violence towards you. This has far more serious consequences than you'd wish to believe as it simply breeds more distrust and fear. Clearly people need to make personal judgements about people and situations, but far better to live without fear than live a life OF fear.

So most people aren't peaceful, but most Italian women are pure and beautiful. hah, how curious of you.

Exactly how do you know they were "peasants"? Looks suspiciously like projection to me.
