Gravatar The idea of Mr. Sulzberger under indictment, let alone being prosecuted, has to be one of the most self-destructive things the White House could do. Investigate the C.I.A. leakers, a resounding "yes!" But to plow through the 'paper of record' to do it...if Mr. Sulzberger makes a principled stand, there will be no bottom to Mr. Bush's polls as a result, and the elections of 2006 and 2008 will be dramatically impacted.

We on the right dislike the bias of the Times intensely; but we read her every day! This investigation, if it starts going after Mr. Sulzberger et al, has the worrying look of lose-lose for Mr. Bush.
