I know where there really are some frozen cracks in the ice. Better yet, I know a place where soon, the ice will all be gone. The people here know the value of cracked ice, that becomes a ice island, that becomes a chilled river. You should come and see it. You'd like it here.

in alaska, the blue of the ice and the deep cracks are so beautiful, if not completely dangerous. the fissures, the cracks, the multitude of history trapped beneath the smooth surface..

and then at night, the sky dances for those with the sense to look up instead of down.
