Gravatar so what's up, man? Wanna unload? I've got an available scrabble board online for ya...

Gravatar Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Gravatar *chuckles*

Oops.......

Gravatar sort of a post script here to all this -- I did indeed screw up and there probably will be some sort of trouble coming my way because of it, but it would seem that the red alert I was worried might come my way may have passed over a bit.

Basically in my class we have silent reading 3 days a week to help kids reach their reading goals for the year -- and during my first hour class there is this one kid who likes to make little noises and talk to others and generally ignores the assignment outright no matter how many times I've talked to him about it. Long story short this happened again on Monday and for whatever reason I basically ..went off on him, probably crossing a line or two along the way.

Not surprisingly he went to his parent who went to the school and even though I spent most of the rest of the day regretting my actions, it became clear the next morning that I could be facing some serious consequences depending on how this was handled by the administration (who don't really love me all that much to begin with).

I talked to some people, apologized to the kid, the class, and his parents, and hopefully buried the hatchet a bit... but it remains to be seen if any actions will be taken against me. It's not like I'm innocent -- I did screw up, but I'm hoping I was proactive enough to maybe dodge the bullet on this one and learn my lesson for next time.

Thanks to all who sent kind words and thoughts.

Gravatar Last year I called a kid a "dumbass". Actually I told him to stop acting like a dumbass, because he was and I wanted him to stop. It was that simple. Got his attention. I told his mom when she came to pick him up. Then I had to call all of the parents in the class and tell them what I had done and apologize. I still have kids today who tease me about it.
"Professionalism" annoys the fool out of me.

Gravatar did you "cross the line" or "jump over it and completely ignore it"?

i am sure things will be okay... but for some reason, i keep hearing the eminem line :

"Uhhh-aahh! Temper temper!
Mr. Dre? Mr. N.W.A.?
Mr. AK comin' straight outta Compton y'all better make way?"

hehe

Gravatar Dude, calling a kid out (even if with some inappropriate zeal) is much different than allowing your boss to stumble across your online journal, in which you use your writing talents to express to everyone what a tool he is.

Is there such a thing as an upward spiral?

Gravatar more like "went utterly 9 am only had half a cup of coffee at that point ballistic and verbally ran the kid down in front of the class and made some veiled references to what I would look like behind bars after they put me in jail for attacking him and... you know, stuff like that."

It was a pretty bad scene, actually.

But like I said, I think (I hope) I kinda defused a good bit of the heat that was coming my way for it. I don't know -- in this town, what I did could be interpreted a lot of ways, and very few of them cool.

Gravatar oh and PS - Mr. Pruitt realy was a tool.

Gravatar what did the kid do to get in your craw like that? i think i know you fairly well and it takes a reason of some sorts for you to snap. hell, i know i have said some pretty vicious things to you and i haven't even seen that side of you.

Gravatar *doesn't read a single comment but licks D's ear*

Gravatar Wow, i hope to never get verbally ran down by you... I dont have the proper insurance for that kinda "hit and run"
*mental note* "Stay On Dan's Good Side"
**offers a cookie and runs**

Gravatar Fuck all that shit, we want you up here.
