You mean Judas Iscariot, right?

I hope you're well...

Gravatar Well yeah, him too.

Gravatar Damn if wasn't about to post something on the same freaking subject. I'm just glad that people are finally starting to look at something with a curious eye. Tom Robbins started it for me years ago, but well, so did freaking seminary.

Gravatar I see your seminary and raise you SOUTHERN BAPTIST seminary.

I know that the social animal of religon thrives on fear, but I say that true faith is what you believe even when you DON'T feel threatened.

Gravatar I'm in marketing. I earn money by creating emergencies that play off people's fears. The entire pharmaceutical industry is based on this. You could conclude, then, that marketing is another form of religious zealotry, and viagra is man's favorite rosary.

Gravatar Oh I totally agree -- in fact I actually wrote something a while back dealing with the way it seemed the pharmacertical industry was screwing with our lives (you can find it here if you're interested) -- but in this particular situation I think the whole thing ends up being a bit laughable.

It kinda goes to something I wanted to say in reply to monster's comment -- that my point was more about how it seems in this situatioin the so-called rank and file apparently know more about what's going than the boss, and yet the upper eschelon never seems to miss the opportunity to try to make people scared whenever it comes along.

Besides, why protest a bad movie like this one when Jennifer Anniston is still putting out plenty of work?

Gravatar you know that was mom, right? ;o)

Gravatar of course - that's why I was typing in my charming voice

Gravatar The fun part of all of this is that the stuff in the DaVinci Code, while obvious fiction, along with things like Nat Geo's "The Gospel of Judas" which isn't fiction and the constant interviewing of the Jesus Seminar boys on the Discovery Channel and even on Dateline and the like is starting to make the boys in charge a little nervous and now everyone, especially Dan Brown , is a "false prophet" and a sign that the end is more near than ever, when the dude was just taking some what if statements and subjecting them to romantic hyperbole. Rather than getting people curious, it is just another reason to circle the wagons and have Rapture Practice.
Serioulsy. Rapture Practice. I had it in highschool. Some Christian artist - Jerome something - used to come on stage and shout "RAPTURE PRACTICE" and we would all throw our hands up in the air and jump so we could catch the wave up to the meetin' in air.
Now I ramble, but I just hope that one person out there is seeing the movie or read the book and goes "Ding! Hey, what would it be like if this shit were really TRUE?"
Vive John Dominic Crossan!

Gravatar I couldn't agree more.

There does seem to be a heightened sense of emergency among the faithful.

It probably is due to Ron Howard.

Great read...hope you don't mind if I link you blog to mine.

Gravatar As a historian I think that "The DaVinci Code" should probably offend me more than Christians.
