As insurance brokers it's our job to unreasonably fear change.

I also agree that the tax advantage is actually a small driver of the employer based system anymore (i.e. if the tax advantage were eliminated, that alone wouldn't cause widespread panic). The largest advantage to group, as opposed to individual, is reduced transaction and underwriting costs and guarantee issue/portability.

Where I think the most likely source of upheaval is the anticipation that there will be upheaval. It's a self-fullfilling prophecy.

I also agree that the best solution, right now, is to make all benefits insurance purchases equally tax advantaged whether individual or group.

I do believe you owe me a new monitor and keyboard...about 1/2 my coffee ended up on them. Thanx for the (much needed) laugh!

Looks like we are actually in pretty close agreement. I concur that Heritage does spend a great deal of time in Don Quixote mode, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Thanx for your original work (over at T & T); it looks like a kind of group blog effort (e.g. Red State, PowerLine, etc). Interesting way to go.

Thanx again for your comments, too!

Great blog I hope we can work to build a better health care system. Health insurance is a major aspect to many.
